16/8/18 – Right after the magnitude 7 earthquake hit Lombok on August 5th, Peduli Anak immediately set up fundraising campaigns on several platforms, among them is on Kitabisa.com, the leading fundraising campaign in Indonesia.

Today the CEO of Kitabisa.com, Alfatih Timur, and his team visited Peduli Anak. They were concerned to see the damages from the earthquakes and pledged to support our campaign on their platform. Furthermore, they also talked with some of our children to learn more about them and how this disaster affected the children.

We also went to the Lingsar District Office to meet with the Governor of West Nusa Tenggara, Zainul Majdi and the Governor-elect of West Java, Ridwan Kamil. Mr Kamil also set up a fundraising campaign on Kitabisa for Lombok. In just one week, he collected 2 billion rupiahs, which he symbolically donated to the West Nusa Tenggara Governor for Lingsar and Gunungsari districts on West Lombok.

Together with our Founder, Chaim Fetter, both governors, Kitabisa team, Don Bosco Selamun from Metro TV and some volunteers from Bandung visited the earthquake victims in Gunungsari District, West Lombok.

The villages there are badly damaged and many now in ruins. We walked passed the villages and met with the people who now live in tents. The West Java Governor even took time to play games with the children and give away presents for them.

This is the first time that high government officials visited our district. The North part of Lombok is the worst hit by the earthquakes and most of donations are centered in that area. However, many areas in our district are also in ruins, including the children homes in Peduli Anak. We are now actively fundraising online and offline to rebuild our homes. Besides on Kitabisa.com, we also fundraise through Gofundme and Geef.nl.

We hope that this visit will bring in more attention and help to the West part of Lombok. You can help too!
