UPDATE 24 August: The pantomime group won second prize at the Provincial level. Well done, kids!

28 July’16 – Peduli Anak Primary School (SDPA) offered Pantomime class as an enrichment program in April 2015, thanks to the newly recruited classroom teacher, Mr. Fandi, who has won many pantomime competitions on Lombok.

Many of students didn’t even know what pantomime is. However, after watching Mr. Fandi’s performance, they were eager to learn. Mr. Fandi then led the new pantomime class.

One year later, SDPA students have won a number of pantomime competitions at the sub-district and district levels. Pantomime is even now one of permanent classes in enrichment program along with English and Computer. We even found a great hidden talent within two of our grade 5 students, Wisa Kurnia Taufik and Wawan Saputra.

Wisa and Wawan continue to practice intensively under Mr. Fandi’s guidance. They are very motivated to learn and everyday we see their confidence grow. Their hard work comes to fruition when they won the district level and will compete at the province level next month.

The pantomime class, which was dominated by boys, has also attracted some female students too. They’re now practicing together some interesting acts entitled: Tragedi perpustakaan/Tragedy at the Library, Permainan Modern vs. Tradisional/ Modern Play vs. Traditional Play, Kena Batunya/Bad Karma, Untuk YPA/For Peduli Anak, and 99 Masalah saat Mencuri/ 99 Stealing Problems.

The 99 Stealing Problems act, performed by Wawan Saputra and Gifal Yogianto, has brought the team to the provincial level this year.

At the moment, the troupe is practicing hard for the competition. We invite you to join and support their journey. We’ll keep you posted.
