19 July’16 – This year’s school holiday came at the same time as the end of Ramadan or Ied holiday. After Ramadan or the fasting month, the children had Ied or in Indonesia, Idul Fitri holiday.

Some kids who still have relatives spent the holiday back home. But for those without family or for some reason cannot go home to their family, celebrated the holiday with a foster family.

In addition to Ied holiday, people on Lombok also celebrate Lebaran Topat, which took its name from a tradition to eat the local Ketupat (rice cones) on the beach. Therefore, we took all the kids on a trip to a beach in Kuta, South Lombok. They all went swimming and playing on the beach.

On the last day of the holiday, all kids in Primary School went to Sekotong beach. They went swimming, looked for seashells, and ate fresh fish from the BBQ.

We had two special guests joining this trip organized by our Founder. Henk and Miranda from The Netherlands have been sponsoring five kids from the very beginning of Peduli Anak. Together with us, they have witnessed their sponsored children growing and graduating schools. Besides sponsoring children, the energetic couple also promotes Peduli Anak in their home country. This year, they personally delivered donation raised by our sustainable partner Dordtbeach, Beach Volleyball in The Netherlands. They also brought new T-shirts for all of our kids. Our kids said thank you by, of course, playing beach volleyball!
