A Sketch of Happiness

Rasyid took part in a drawing activity with Shay, a volunteer from France, along with several friends including Abdul, Zidan, and Jordan. Using the art supplies prepared by Shay, Rasyid chose to draw a bunch of grapes by following a picture on a phone. He drew with care and patience, even though the result wasn’t exactly the same as the reference. After finishing the outline, he colored it with the original colors and felt very happy and proud of his artwork. This activity was a fun and inspiring experience for Rasyid.

Idris just celebrated his 16th birthday with his housemates at House 14. Although the celebration was simple, the excitement from his friends made the atmosphere festive. He felt very happy to receive greeting cards and a few gifts from his friends, mentor, and a French volunteer named Hadda. This small celebration became a special moment that made Idris feel loved and appreciated.

Dika is currently working on a line and flat-shape pattern drawing assignment given by the Peduli Anak counselor. He joined the activity enthusiastically, aiming to improve his precision and drawing skills. Before starting, Dika listened carefully to the counselor’s instructions to avoid making mistakes. He was provided with a pencil, ruler, and patterned paper, and later posted his completed work on the House 14 bulletin board. His housemate, Dayat, also participated in the activity.

Widya regularly visits the Peduli Anak library to study and read while relaxing. In addition to reading books, she also joins her friends in playing word-building games. With patience, Widya helps them recognize letters and words, showing her care while practicing responsibility and empathy.

Hera is known as a diligent and caring child, especially toward her foster mother. During the joint Taekwondo training held at the Peduli Anak futsal field, Hera eagerly helped look after her foster mother’s small food stall, which sold snacks like risol (spring roll), cilok (meatball), and iced tea. She served customers politely and helped arrange the items, which ended up selling very well. Hera’s sense of responsibility and enthusiasm set a great example for her friends. She showed that helping our parents is not only a form of love but also a reflection of independence and compassion.

Nur was very enthusiastic about joining the art class at the foundation, especially when making a multipurpose container from used bottles and straws. With great care, she cut and decorated the bottle using straws and ribbons to make it look attractive. She also added a base made of cardboard covered with felt fabric. This activity not only showcased Nur’s creativity but also strengthened her bond with her friends.

Yeyen took part in an art class at the foundation’s art room with several of her friends, facilitated by internship students from the University of Technology Sumbawa and guided by a counselor. In this session, they made pencil holders from used plastic bottles as a way to recycle unused items into something useful. The process involved layering the bottles with felt fabric, making bases from cardboard, and decorating them with ornaments based on their creativity. Yeyen was very enthusiastic and meticulous throughout the activity, showing a strong eagerness to learn. Her love for crafts motivates her to continue developing her skills in creating eco-friendly art.

Ibnu is very enthusiastic about playing futsal, especially since he often plays with Shaynez, a friendly and skilled volunteer from France. Every afternoon after studying, Ibnu and his friends gather at the small field to play with great spirit, even holding mini matches on the weekends. This activity is not only a way to exercise but also strengthens social bonds and enriches their cultural understanding. For Ibnu, futsal is no longer just a game—it has become a way to learn, make friends, and enjoy togetherness.

Zidan took part in preparing for the Lebaran celebration by baking cookies together with his housemates and foster mother. He helped mix the chocolate batter and carefully spread it on the cookies. For Zidan, this activity was not only fun but also a valuable experience that strengthened the sense of togetherness and warmth leading up to the festive day.
