Volunteering at Peduli Anak: A Life-Changing Experience in Lombok
At Peduli Anak, volunteers play an important role in supporting our mission to help underprivileged children in West Nusa Tenggara. We were delighted to welcome Shaynez Garroumi, a Master’s student in International Business Engineering from IAE Montpellier, France, as one of our volunteers for a six-month internship program.
During her time with us, Shaynez contributed to various aspects of our foundation’s work, including marketing development and daily support activities. She assisted in content creation for social media to raise awareness about our work and helped enhance the foundation’s online presence.
Volunteering at Peduli Anak means more than offering help — it’s about becoming a part of a dynamic environment where children are nurtured, encouraged, and supported to reach their full potential.

Engaging with the Children
Volunteers at Peduli Anak are actively involved in the daily lives of the children. Shaynez joined our classes during the weekdays, especially in English and science, where she could offer effective support despite the language barrier. She also initiated French classes twice a week, developing a natural teaching approach through interaction with the students.
Outside the classroom, volunteers often facilitate sports and recreational activities such as soccer, swimming, badminton, and outdoor games. These activities aren’t just for fun—they help build communication skills, teamwork, and confidence among the children.
From hiking to beach trips, each activity is designed to help children explore the world outside their daily routines, gain new experiences, and discover what lies beyond their comfort zone.
Compassion and Connection
What makes the volunteering experience truly special at Peduli Anak is the sense of community. Volunteers don’t just work alongside our team — they become part of our family. The bonds formed between volunteers, the children, and local staff are deep and long-lasting.
Our local team consists of dedicated and caring individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of the children. They provide guidance, warmth, and encouragement — and in return, volunteers often find themselves learning as much as they teach.
Volunteering here is not just about giving; it’s about connecting, growing, and experiencing the power of compassion in action.
