6 November 2015 – The volcano Mt. Barujari on the island of Lombok erupted on 26 October 2015. Barujari is part of the bigger mountain Rinjani. Since then it has affected the closure of Bali and Lombok airports and ashcloud throughout the island.

Only until this week, did the ashcloud compromise the air in our center. Our staff and children had to wear masks and dusted off the ash around us.

Furthermore, our volunteers were also stuck on the island and overseas. One of them was ending the program and therefore had to leave the country soon, whereas the others were forced to extend their stay overseas and wait until the Lombok airport reopen.

We hope the situation is getting better soon so that everybody can resume their daily activities and enjoy the fresh air of Lombok again. Stay safe!
