Relaxation Session Guided by a Volunteer

As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting the emotional well being of those who care for children, Peduli Anak organized a relaxation session for its foster mothers, guided by a volunteer. The activity was designed to support the mental health and emotional balance of the foster mothers, who play a vital role in the children’s daily lives.

The session was held in a calm and safe atmosphere, offering the foster mothers a chance to pause from their busy routines. Participants were invited to slow down, quiet their minds, and reconnect with themselves before returning to their caregiving responsibilities.

A Safe Space to Rest and Breathe

From the beginning, the foster mothers were welcomed into a space that felt safe and free from expectations. The volunteer opened the session by emphasizing that this time was dedicated entirely to them, with no pressure to speak, share, or perform in any particular way.

This approach helped participants feel more relaxed and supported. Many foster mothers shared that simply being given permission to be still, to breathe, and to be fully present allowed long held tension to begin to ease.

Simple Practices to Calm the Body and Mind

The volunteer then guided the group through a series of gentle practices, including breathing exercises to calm the nervous system, muscle release techniques to let go of physical tension, and soft movements to help the body feel lighter and more at ease.

These practices were designed to be easily integrated into daily life, whether in the morning before starting the day, during moments of fatigue or stress, or in the evening before rest. In this way, foster mothers gained practical tools to support their own well being alongside their caregiving roles.

A Positive Impact on Care

Supporting the emotional well being of foster mothers is an essential part of creating a healthy and nurturing environment for children. When foster mothers feel calmer, more balanced, and more connected to themselves, this naturally shapes the way they respond to, guide, and support the children in their care.

The session also offered space for reflection, helping foster mothers recognize that caring for themselves is not a luxury, but a necessary foundation for being able to show up fully for others.

Over time, Peduli Anak views activities like this as an investment in the quality of care provided to children. By supporting foster mothers, the organization helps build a strong emotional foundation for the children’s growth and development.

Through this relaxation session, Peduli Anak hopes that foster mothers will continue to use these simple practices in their daily lives and share them within their caregiving environment, allowing a calmer, safer, and more compassionate atmosphere to grow alongside the children they support.
