Alif has faced pain and neglect since his early years. After his parents separated, he lived with his father, who neglected him. He then moved in with his mother but was not accepted by her new family, leading him to stay with a friend of his mother. Due to ongoing difficulties, he was placed with other people, where he again suffered neglect and lacked proper care and love.

When a social worker met him, Alif was in poor condition. He was then referred to Peduli Anak to live in a safe place, receive love, and have the chance for a better future.
