Building a Mini Bridge from Ice Cream Sticks
Students at the junior high school of Peduli Anak recently took part in a hands-on craft lesson where they designed and built miniature suspension bridges using ice cream sticks. Working in small groups, they planned their ideas and brought their designs to life step by step.
The activity encouraged students to think beyond simply assembling materials. As they worked, they learned how structure, balance, and careful planning affect the strength and stability of their bridges. Collaboration and shared responsibilities also played an important role throughout the process.
Exploring Basic Construction Skills
Before starting the project, each group created a simple design plan. They discussed the structure of the bridge, how to keep it balanced, and the best way to connect each part securely.
During construction, students faced small challenges such as adjusting measurements, strengthening weak points, and making sure their bridges could stand properly. These moments helped them develop problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and teamwork.

Learning Through Experience
With guidance from their teacher, students worked through each stage carefully and improved their work along the way. The process encouraged them to try different approaches, learn from mistakes, and support one another within their groups.
By the end of the activity, students not only completed their bridges but also gained a better understanding of how ideas can be turned into real creations. Experiences like this help build confidence and make learning more meaningful.
At Peduli Anak, learning activities are designed to give students opportunities to explore, create, and grow. Through practical experiences like this, students develop both academic understanding and the skills they need for their future.
