Peduli Anak continues to support students’ growth through a range of extracurricular activities at its Junior High School. One of the newest programs, launched in January this year, is the journalism extracurricular, which provides students with an opportunity to develop writing skills and learn how to share information responsibly.

The journalism extracurricular is held every Thursday and is guided by Ms. Mega. Through this weekly activity, students are introduced to journalism as a space for learning that encourages critical thinking, clear communication, and creativity.

Learning the Journalism Process

In the journalism extracurricular, students learn the complete process of creating news content, starting from the planning stage through to production. They are guided to choose topics, develop story ideas, prepare interview questions, and write simple news articles based on the information they gather.

The learning process focuses on hands-on practice so students can experience each stage directly. This approach helps students better understand how journalism works while allowing them to apply what they learn through real writing activities.

Interviews and Creating Creative Content

This week, students practiced interview skills by interviewing staff members and teachers at Peduli Anak Junior High School. Through these interviews, students learned how to ask questions confidently, listen attentively, and organize information clearly.

In addition to writing news articles, students also learned to create illustrations and develop content for social media. These activities help students understand that journalism today involves not only writing, but also visual storytelling and digital communication.

Through the journalism extracurricular, Peduli Anak Junior High School aims to strengthen students’ literacy skills, creativity, and confidence in expressing ideas and stories. The program provides a supportive learning environment where students are encouraged to observe their surroundings and share meaningful information.

Looking ahead, Peduli Anak will continue to develop extracurricular programs that support both academic development and practical skills. Through consistent learning opportunities, students are encouraged to grow into active, thoughtful learners who are confident in sharing their voices.
