Testing Skills Through Taekwondo Sparring

Sparring is an important part of taekwondo training, giving athletes the chance to put their skills into practice in a real match setting. It allows them to work on their techniques, read their opponents, stay focused, and learn how to respond under pressure.

That was the purpose behind a sparring session organised by the Peduli Anak Taekwondo Team at Peduli Anak Sport Center on Friday, 21 August 2026. The session brought together the Peduli Anak team and athletes from several other taekwondo clubs, giving everyone the opportunity to compete against different opponents and gain more experience in the ring.

Gaining New Experience

From the start of the matches, the athletes showed strong energy and focus in the ring. Each participant worked to apply the techniques they had practised in training while adapting to opponents with different styles and approaches.

For the Peduli Anak Taekwondo Team, sessions like this are a valuable way to see how the athletes are progressing. Sparring allows them to identify the skills they have developed and the areas they still need to work on during future training sessions.

Athletes from clubs including PACTA, Satria Tatura, Taekwondo Spensanar, Manunggal, Reformasi, Lentera Hati, and UKM Taekwondo UNRAM also took part. Having a range of opponents made each match different and gave the athletes more opportunities to test themselves.

More Than Just a Match

Stepping into the ring teaches lessons that go beyond technique. Athletes learn to stay focused, manage their emotions, follow the rules, and maintain respect for their opponents even in a competitive environment.

For the children on the Peduli Anak Taekwondo Team, these experiences also help build confidence. They learn how to handle pressure, accept the outcome of a match, and return to training with a better understanding of what they can improve.

The sparring session organised by the Peduli Anak Taekwondo Team was another part of the athletes’ ongoing training and preparation. Every round gave them something to take back to practice, whether it was a skill that worked well or an area that needs more attention.

At Peduli Anak, we see sport as an important part of children’s development. Through taekwondo, they learn discipline, courage, perseverance, and sportsmanship, qualities that are just as valuable outside the ring.

We are proud of the commitment our athletes continue to show in training and competition. We hope opportunities like this will help the Peduli Anak Taekwondo Team gain experience, keep improving, and step into their next competitions with even greater confidence.
