Hydroponic Garden, A New Place to Learn
Some of life’s most valuable lessons take time to grow. That is exactly what our children at Peduli Anak Elementary School have been learning through the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5), where hydroponics has become part of their educational journey. For the past two years, this programme has encouraged our students to discover that patience, responsibility, and consistent care are just as important as the final result.
Guided by their teachers, our children take part in every stage of the growing process. From preparing the planting media and sowing seeds to caring for the plants each day and finally harvesting them, every step offers a meaningful learning experience. Along the way, they discover that success doesn’t happen overnight but grows through dedication and perseverance.
Learning Through Every Stage
Throughout the programme, our children are responsible for caring for the plants they grow themselves. Each day, they observe their progress, make sure the plants receive enough water and nutrients, and witness how small changes gradually lead to healthy growth.
With guidance from their teachers, the hydroponics project has become much more than a gardening activity. It teaches responsibility, consistency, and the importance of looking after something with care. These lessons continue to grow alongside the plants themselves.
Harvesting More Than Vegetables
Harvest day is always one of the most exciting moments for our children. After weeks of nurturing their plants, they finally experience the joy of picking vegetables they have grown with their own hands. The smiles on their faces reflect the pride that comes from seeing their hard work pay off.
At Peduli Anak Elementary School, we believe that meaningful learning happens through experience. Our hydroponics programme not only introduces children to sustainable growing methods but also helps them develop patience, responsibility, and perseverance, values that will benefit them far beyond the classroom.
