Fun UNO Game at Peduli Anak

Weekends at Peduli Anak are always something to look forward to — a time when the children can relax, recharge, and most importantly, have fun. One favorite activity that has quickly become a weekend tradition is playing UNO, the classic card game that brings joy, surprises, and lots of laughter.

Under the cozy gazebos around our playground, children from different age groups gather, joined by a foster mother and a visiting volunteer. With the fresh breeze and green surroundings, the setting adds an extra touch of warmth to an already cheerful moment.

From Serious Faces to Laughter

At first, the children sit in a circle, brows furrowed, cards in hand, eyes on the game — it’s all business. But as the game picks up, the serious mood breaks into giggles and shrieks of laughter. Wild cards flip the game upside down, “Skip” cards are met with playful groans, and the moment someone boldly calls out “UNO!” everyone leans in with anticipation.

What makes it even more special is the way everyone joins in — the older children, the younger ones, the foster mother who sneaks in a lucky move, and the volunteer who learns quickly just how competitive the kids can get. It’s a circle of fun, friendship, and full-hearted joy.

Favorite Weekend Tradition

For Arga, one of the younger boys under our care, this weekend ritual is the highlight of his week.

“I really love playing UNO because it’s fun and I can laugh together with the older kids and my foster mother,” said Arga with a grin. “When I win, it feels amazing!”

His happiness is contagious — and it shows how even a simple card game can mean so much when shared with people who care.

More Than Just a Game

Playing UNO may look like just a fun pastime, but it brings so many valuable moments. It teaches patience and turn-taking, encourages friendly competition, and most importantly, brings everyone — young and old — closer together.

At Peduli Anak, joy is found in the little things: a shared laugh under the gazebo, the sound of playful teasing during a card match, and the bonds that grow stronger with every “Draw Four.”

And we’ll keep playing, laughing, and cherishing these simple joys — one weekend at a time.
