How Peduli Anak Maintains Hair Hygiene and Health

At Peduli Anak, we believe that caring for children means paying attention to every detail—including their hair and scalp health. With many children living, playing, and going to school together every day, it’s important for us to be proactive in maintaining good hygiene and preventing any health issues that could affect their well-being.

One of the common challenges in communal environments like ours is head lice. While it’s a normal issue among children, it can spread quickly if not addressed. That’s why we’ve implemented regular and organized lice treatment routines to ensure every child feels fresh, clean, and comfortable.

Fast Response, Gentle Care

As soon as we notice early signs of lice among some of the children, our teachers, medical staff, and foster mothers take immediate action. We understand that lice not only cause discomfort but can also affect a child’s confidence and concentration in class.

Here’s how we respond:

  • Thorough checks are conducted by foster mothers and health staff to identify affected children early.
  • Natural, child-friendly treatments are used to minimize irritation and safely eliminate lice.
  • Children receive hair washing sessions and comb-through treatments using fine-toothed lice combs and special shampoos.
  • Regular follow-ups are done to ensure the lice are completely gone and haven’t spread to others.

A Word from the Clinic

Ms. Nyoman, a nurse from the Peduli Anak Clinic, emphasized the importance of the treatment:

“Head lice may seem like a small problem, but in a shared living environment like ours, it can become uncomfortable for many children very quickly. That’s why we always act fast. We use safe, gentle treatments and also take the opportunity to teach the children how to care for their hygiene. It’s all part of keeping them healthy and confident.”

Teaching the Children About Hygiene

Beyond just treatment, we take these moments as learning opportunities. The children are educated about personal hygiene, including how to take care of their hair, the importance of sharing responsibility, and keeping personal items like combs and pillows clean.

We also provide:

  • Ongoing reminders from foster mothers and teachers.
  • Fun, engaging hygiene talks to promote lifelong healthy habits.

A Commitment to Their Comfort

Our goal isn’t just to treat—but to ensure every child at Peduli Anak feels safe, confident, and cared for. Health is a big part of that. That’s why we continue to maintain routines, create awareness, and respond quickly to issue like lice, skin conditions, and other hygiene-related challenges.

Because when a child feels goon in their own skin (and scalp!), they’re more to thrive in school, at play, and in life.
