Mila Takes 1st Place at the Festival Tunas Bahasa Ibu
We are proud to celebrate the achievement of Mila, one of our children at Peduli Anak Elementary School, who won First Place in the Pidarta (Sasak Speech) Competition at the 2026 Festival Tunas Bahasa Ibu (FTBI) at the West Lombok Regency level.
This achievement is a wonderful moment for Mila and her school. At a young age, she had the courage to stand in front of the judges and deliver her speech in Sasak, putting into practice the skills and preparation she had worked on beforehand.
Preparing to Take the Stage
In preparation for the competition, Mila practised with her teachers. She worked on her speech, practised her delivery, and built the confidence she needed to speak in front of an audience.
The experience gave Mila the opportunity to develop her public speaking skills and learn how to prepare for a competition. When the day arrived, she was able to put that preparation into practice and give it her best.
Keeping the Sasak Language Alive
The Festival Tunas Bahasa Ibu gives children an opportunity to learn and engage with their local languages through a range of activities. For Mila, the speech competition was a chance to use Sasak while showing that local languages can continue to be learned, spoken, and appreciated by younger generations.
Her achievement is a proud moment for Peduli Anak Elementary School. Beyond the award itself, the experience gave Mila an opportunity to connect with her local culture, strengthen her speaking skills, and become more confident in using the Sasak language.
Behind Mila’s achievement were the teachers who supported and encouraged her throughout her preparation. Their guidance, practice sessions, and encouragement helped Mila feel ready and confident when it was time to compete.
