Exploring AI with Aubrey
Curiosity and excitement filled the room as the children took part in an Artificial Intelligence (AI) workshop led by our volunteer, Aubrey. Through an interactive and engaging session, the children were introduced to AI and explored how this technology can support and enrich their learning experiences.
The workshop began with examples that were familiar and relatable to the children. Aubrey explained that AI can be used for many purposes, from finding tips for playing games to answering questions and learning new things. By connecting the topic to their everyday interests, the children quickly discovered that AI is not only an advanced technology but also a useful tool that can be used in positive and meaningful ways.
Learning How to Write Prompts
The children were then introduced to the concept of a prompt, or the instructions and questions given to AI in order to receive helpful responses.
They learned how to ask clear and specific questions and discovered that the quality of a prompt often influences the quality of the answer. Through simple examples and discussions, the children began to understand how to communicate with AI more effectively.
Exploring AI Through Hands-On Practice
After learning the basics, the children had the opportunity to put their new knowledge into practice. With Aubrey’s guidance, they experimented with writing different questions and prompts, then explored how AI could provide information and support their learning.
The children used AI for a variety of purposes, from finding explanations for school subjects and generating new ideas to exploring topics that sparked their curiosity. The session was lively and engaging, with many children eager to try different prompts and discover new ways of using AI as a learning tool.
Through this workshop, the children learned that AI is more than just an impressive piece of technology. It can also be a valuable companion that encourages curiosity, broadens knowledge, and supports more creative and independent learning.
