From Sea to Pearl A Learning Experience
For many children at Peduli Anak, pearls have only ever been seen as finished jewelry. Through this study tour, they had the opportunity to see how pearls are actually formed, from the very beginning of the process to the final result.
A group of 13 children took part in a visit to Autore Pearl Farm and showroom in North Lombok as part of their learning on aquaculture. This experience gave them a chance to understand a process they had never seen before.

Understanding the Process Behind a Pearl
During the visit, the children were introduced to the full process of pearl cultivation, from the early stages of oyster care to how pearls are formed and eventually harvested.
For many of them, this was their first time seeing the process up close. It helped them understand that something valuable takes time, precision, and patience to develop.
From Nature to Valuable Creations
In addition to the farm, the children also visited the showroom, where they saw how pearls are transformed into high-quality jewelry. This gave them a clearer picture of how natural resources can be developed into products with added value.
One of our children shared, “I was really happy to see how pearls are made. Before this, I didn’t know the process, but now I understand more and find it very interesting.”
This simple reflection shows how direct experiences can spark curiosity and engagement.

Experiences like this are part of Peduli Anak’s long-term approach to supporting children’s development. Learning does not only happen in the classroom, but also through real-life exposure and meaningful interactions.
We would like to express our sincere appreciation to Autore Pearl Farm for inviting our children and giving them the opportunity to learn directly from this experience. Support like this helps broaden their perspective and creates lasting learning moments.
Experiences like this remind us that learning does not always begin with books. It grows through seeing, exploring, and understanding the world firsthand. Each opportunity becomes a small but meaningful step in helping children build confidence and see new possibilities for their future.
