Peduli Anak Foundation was honored to welcome The Singapore Medical Society of Australia and New Zealand (SMSANZ) for a Community Outreach Program held from 14–20 January. This initiative reflects SMSANZ’s strong commitment to improving the health and well-being of children living in care, while supporting organizations dedicated to child protection and welfare.

Over the course of one week, the SMSANZ medical team worked closely within the Peduli Anak community, providing health services, training, and education. This community outreach program was designed not only to deliver immediate medical support, but also to strengthen the capacity of caregivers and educators in creating a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment for children.

First Aid Training

As part of the community outreach activities, SMSANZ conducted First Aid Training for caregivers, teachers, and counselors at Peduli Anak. Participants received essential knowledge on basic first aid, including how to manage minor injuries and respond effectively in emergency situations.

The training included practical, hands-on sessions that allowed participants to apply first aid techniques with confidence. Through this activity, caregivers and educators are better prepared to safeguard children’s health and respond calmly when emergencies arise.

Health Check-Ups

The community outreach program also included health check-ups for the entire Peduli Anak family, including children, staff, and members of the surrounding community. These check-ups aimed to assess general health conditions while supporting early detection and preventive care.

The activity was warmly welcomed by participants, many of whom have limited access to regular healthcare services. In addition to medical examinations, participants received health advice and guidance on maintaining healthy daily habits.

Health Education for Children

Children at Peduli Anak took part in health education sessions delivered in a child-friendly, interactive, and engaging manner. Through games, discussions, and demonstrations, children learned about personal hygiene, proper handwashing, healthy eating habits, and the importance of clean and healthy living.

These sessions encouraged children to take pride in caring for their own health, helping them build positive habits that support their growth and development.

Reaching the Surrounding Community

True to the spirit of community outreach, the program extended beyond the Peduli Anak campus to include residents from the surrounding area. This inclusive approach strengthened relationships between Peduli Anak and the local community while promoting shared awareness of health and well-being.

By opening access to health services and education, the outreach fostered a sense of collective responsibility and mutual care within the community.

Peduli Anak Foundation extends its heartfelt gratitude to The Singapore Medical Society of Australia and New Zealand for their compassion, dedication, and meaningful contribution through this community outreach program. The presence of the medical team brought comfort, reassurance, and tangible benefits to children, caregivers, and community members.

Through this collaboration, it is hoped that the knowledge and skills shared will continue to make a positive impact long after the program concluded. This community outreach program marks an important step toward building a safe, healthy, and supportive environment where every child has the opportunity to grow and thrive.
