Arkan was abandoned by his parents and entrusted to his grandmother. His life became harder after they left to work as migrant workers and later divorced. To survive, his grandmother works as a firewood porter, while she and Arkan also gather edible leaves from the forest to sell at the market. With no one else to care for him, Arkan often follows her on long, steep walks just to make ends meet. He was later referred to Peduli Anak to live in a better environment, receive proper care, and attend school.
