As a way to celebrate the hard work and achievements of our 6th and 9th grade students who are about to graduate, Peduli Anak School recently held a farewell trip to one of the most exciting places in North Lombok — Lombok Wildlife Park. This wasn’t just any school outing — it was a special day filled with first-time experiences, laughter, and meaningful memories shared with teachers and volunteers.

A Day of Firsts for Many

For many of the children, this trip marked a series of firsts — first time visiting a zoo, first time seeing wild animals up close, and first time feeling the thrill of adventure outside their usual routines. The excitement was clear from the moment the buses departed — a mix of nervous laughter, big smiles, and wide-eyed curiosity.

These moments, simple as they may seem, are deeply meaningful for children who rarely get the chance to explore beyond the school and home environment. It was more than just a trip — it was a memory-making experience that they will carry with them as they step into a new chapter of life.

Meeting the Animals

Once they arrived at the zoo, the children were in awe. The lush greenery, fresh air, and tall trees surrounding Lombok Wildlife Park immediately created a relaxing and joyful atmosphere. The biggest highlight? Seeing and interacting with a variety of beautiful birds.

The children couldn’t stop smiling as they walked through the aviaries and encountered colorful parrots, hornbills, and other exotic species. Even more thrilling — they got the chance to hold some of the birds, an experience that left many of them speechless with wonder.

“I was really happy because it was my first time going to the zoo,” said Hamdi, one of our 6th graders. “I saw so many beautiful birds and even got to hold one. I didn’t want the moment to end.”

Hamdi’s joy was echoed by his friends, who shared the same wide-eyed excitement and enthusiasm throughout the day.

Fun, Freedom, and Friendship

Beyond the animal encounters, the natural setting of the zoo — filled with big trees and open spaces — gave the children a rare sense of freedom and peace. They took in the sights at their own pace, asked questions, shared their thoughts with teachers and volunteers, and simply enjoyed being together.

It was a day where learning met adventure, and where the children’s accomplishments were rewarded with joy and play. There was no rush — just smiles, laughter, and the comfort of being surrounded by friends who had walked the school journey with them.

Ending the Day by the Sea

After exploring the zoo, the farewell trip continued with a visit to a nearby beach. With the sun beginning to set, the students played together by the shore — running, laughing, and splashing in the water. It was the perfect ending to a perfect day.

As the children watched the waves and shared snacks with their classmates, you could feel the warmth of togetherness. This trip wasn’t just about going somewhere new — it was about celebrating how far they’ve come, and creating memories that will stay with them forever.
