Celebrating Indonesia’s Independence Day at Peduli Anak
Every August 17th, Indonesia comes alive with red and white—celebrating freedom, unity, and national pride. At Peduli Anak, this special day means more than waving flags. It’s about bringing our children, foster mothers, and staff together to celebrate what it means to be part of this nation: strong, joyful, and full of hope.
This year, as we marked Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day, our campus was filled with excitement, laughter, and the sound of cheerful celebration.
Marching with Spirit and Creativity
The morning kicked off with one of our favorite traditions: the marching competition. Each house formed a team, marching together with their housemates and foster mothers. The teams didn’t just walk—they made it a full performance!
Wearing creative outfits, red-and-white flag stickers, and a bit of fun face paint, each group brought their own style to the celebration. As they marched from the front to the back of the Peduli Anak campus, every team showed off their cheering chants, energy, and teamwork.

Games and Healthy Competition
After the marching ended, the celebration continued with a series of fun and friendly competitions for all ages. In the dining hall, our younger kids focused their energy on the coloring competition. Surrounded by colors and crayons, they concentrated hard on filling in the prepared pictures with creativity and care. For many of them, this was a quiet moment to express themselves through art.
Outside, the atmosphere was loud and festive with other games like relay races, blow the ball challenge, and the most popular of all, the badminton competition! Many children joined the badminton matches, and the crowd couldn’t get enough of the energy on the court. Cheers and laughter echoed throughout the day, making this one of the most joyful Independence Day celebrations we’ve ever had.
Ridoan Shares His Joy
“I was so happy today,” said Ridoan, one of the children who participated in the activities. “The marching was fun, and I liked the badminton game the most. It’s not just about the games—it’s about celebrating together with everyone.”
His words reflect what this day meant for all of us: joy in togetherness and pride in being part of something bigger.

Happy 80th Year of Independence, Indonesia!
At Peduli Anak, we want our children to grow up with not just education and care—but also a deep love for their country. Celebrating Independence Day is a way to teach unity, gratitude, and pride in being Indonesian.
