Sundays in the Pool

Every Sunday afternoon, Nabila regularly joins swimming activities with Alba, a volunteer from Spain. Despite her petite frame, Nabila is able to swim confidently in the deep pool. This activity is not only beneficial for her health but also teaches courage, teamwork, and helps build strong bonds between the children and the volunteers.

Ani and her classmates took part in a swimming lesson during Physical Education class. This session focused on learning and practicing the backstroke, starting with an explanation of the basic techniques such as body position, arm and leg movements, and breathing methods. After the theory session, they practiced in the pool in groups, taking turns. Ani, who already knows how to swim, felt excited because it was her first time trying the backstroke using proper technique as instructed by her teacher. She performed well and enjoyed every part of the process.

Jordan spent his holiday with great enthusiasm by swimming with his friends. Before they started playing, they worked together to clean the pool area. Jordan clearly enjoyed the moment, especially when he jumped into the pool and had lots of fun playing with his friends.

Adit has just completed a week of Midterm Exams. He prepared himself by studying independently at home, reviewing all the material taught by his teachers. During the exam period, Adit reduced his playtime with friends to focus on studying and aim for the best results. He hopes his scores this semester will be better than those in the previous one.

In Physical Education class, Muli has shown excellent understanding of rhythmic movements and rhythmic gymnastics. She is able to perform the movements well, in a coordinated manner, and in time with the music. Muli follows the teacher’s demonstrations and always repeats the movements enthusiastically together with her friends.

One sunny afternoon, Pidia and Ramdan were busy baking nastar (pineapple tarts) behind House 9. Pidia carefully shaped the dough into neat little balls, while Ramdan took charge of setting the oven and baking the nastar with care. The sweet aroma of the baking cookies filled the air, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere. Once baked, the golden-yellow nastar looked delicious and made Pidia smile with satisfaction. More than just baking cookies, this activity became a cheerful moment of togetherness for them.

Rasyid took part in a drawing activity with Shay, a volunteer from France, along with several friends including Abdul, Zidan, and Jordan. Using the art supplies prepared by Shay, Rasyid chose to draw a bunch of grapes by following a picture on a phone. He drew with care and patience, even though the result wasn’t exactly the same as the reference. After finishing the outline, he colored it with the original colors and felt very happy and proud of his artwork. This activity was a fun and inspiring experience for Rasyid.

Idris just celebrated his 16th birthday with his housemates at House 14. Although the celebration was simple, the excitement from his friends made the atmosphere festive. He felt very happy to receive greeting cards and a few gifts from his friends, mentor, and a French volunteer named Hadda. This small celebration became a special moment that made Idris feel loved and appreciated.

Dika is currently working on a line and flat-shape pattern drawing assignment given by the Peduli Anak counselor. He joined the activity enthusiastically, aiming to improve his precision and drawing skills. Before starting, Dika listened carefully to the counselor’s instructions to avoid making mistakes. He was provided with a pencil, ruler, and patterned paper, and later posted his completed work on the House 14 bulletin board. His housemate, Dayat, also participated in the activity.
